Glow in the dark hula hoop... pics from tonight!
Show with my canon xt at night - i just used a very soft flash (I put coffee filters on it, so really soften the effect) and raw mode, super high res, and slowed the shutter every so slightly, to get the motion and really make her stand out against the sky - my fave is the one with the pink sky...

Very nicely done and very creative. Also, a great example of improvising (coffee filters) to get the appropriate shot. This is some excellent work that you should be very proud of.

It's very hard to get the full effect of these in the smaller version, but the really big ones are so cool!!! Seems like the web size makes the highlights on her face a little too heavy or something - it's not like that on my computer though - weird.

    Hi Janie,

I think this is some of your best work to date. Did you use a program to smooth her skin, or was it a "natural" result?

    Regardless, great job!

That's the beauty of slowing the shutter a tad and shooting in raw -with super high resolution the skin generally looks porcelain like. The lighting was nice too, thankfully. The only problem is that it's not quite as sharp when shooting in that style - but I still like it. It took me a while to really get the settings right - the sun was going down so fast I had to constantly change it! lol

As photographers, when aren't we chasing the light? :aureola:

Thanks for answering my Q. I'll have to try this technique some time.

I posted a reply to your image in the gallery, but just wanted to say here that I love creativity you have shown in these images. They have a glow and fun feel to them that makes them come alive. Beautiful model by the way.

Thank you! The slowed shutter is something I consistently use now - and I prefer the low lighting as well. Took a lot of practice and trial and error, but it's worth it!
