    Don't own any. In spite of enjoying them and agreeing that we should be able to have them, I've decided to not have any. The idea(l) is, if we all decided not to own guns, the world would be a better place. I know it's a token gesture. But it's my part. And it only takes one to start a movement. A good friend of mine actually made the same decision recently. He has kids now and decided he would like to be a non-gun owning example to them.

    Hey Gene,

    That was mighty nice of you to try to join us for the trip. Sorry you cannot make and I will make sure to be careful.

    I think the ipod with speakers will help, and to really ward them off I just have to play something loud.

    We have the sattelite phone being rented, and hopefully I can meet up with other people on the trail.
