I think the first one is better, the colors of the flowers seem to be distracting.

Id try to get low to the ground, shooting through the "gate" and wait for the sun (if it does, hard to tell exactly) to hit the stone and light it up.

maybe a small f # to blurr the background more.

I think you're on the right track with the first one, maybe try moving back and using a longer lens to isolate the head stone framed by the trees.

This may be a better fit for the Critique forum, if you're looking for advice - should I move it?

I like the first one better but it should only have the head stone in focus I fell.

Jeff, try framing it a little tighter. Also, play with the DOF.

    My two cents worth.

Not sure which I like better. I think the trees are too tight together in the first and the light isn't good in second. Not bad light but sun on ground is in wrong place.
I've been trying to get more good shots of the cemetary near me and its more difficult than I ever thought it would be.
On the second one, I'd lay on the ground to shoot or maybe kneeling. If the ground is dry anyway.
