Yeah, so do my 8" floppies, the two Z80 systems in the bedroom with 5 1/4" drives, the 8" hard drive with a massive 10MB capacity ...
I have no 8" floppy drive, so why do I keep the discs? :D
I think I have a 1/2" tape reels and even some punch cards around somewhere. I think I kept one of my college card desks. With the DAT tape recorder I think.

What we store images on today will there be readers 5 years or 20 years from now? DVD's are already taking over for CD's. There is "blue light" (I think that is what it is called) technology coming just around the corner that will make DVD's extinct. Technology moves so fast who knows what is next. 5 years from now. are computers gonna have 6 drives? (floppy, CD,DVD,Blue light, next technology, etc). 30 years from now are our grandchildren going to be able to view our images?<p> Part of business plans is to introduce new technology, even though the old is adequate just to give people a reason to buy something new. Also I've heard reports of the aluminum reflective skin of CD's de-laminating making them useless. At best if we want to store our images digitally long into the future it will be a constant copying and re-coping them onto the next technology.

That thing's probably older than you are!! Ever seen one of these? They're going to replace transistors some day, you heard it here first...

Seen them? Used them! No good for storage though :)
Shame I never got a frame of core memory from the college's old ICL1903T when it was decomissioned - that would have been a great souvenir.
