Need to explain...
Uh, you probably shouldn't assume everyone knows what ANWR stands for...
Based on current events, I'm guessing the WR is wildlife reserve, yes? If so, I can relate. We're having a similar, if smaller battle here in Florida with offshore Gulf oil exploration.

Re: Need to explain...
ANWR... Arctic National Wildlife Refuge....
STEVE , anyone with rabbit ears on their black and white TV can get the news on the debate on drilling in the LARGEST, MOST PRISTINE piece of land in THE WORLD :)
Funny yes, but SAD at the same time.

Re: Need to explain...
Anyone in the USA perhaps.
However it's not made the news in the UK recently.
Why are they debating it?
It's all about power and money.

Re: Need to explain...
I don't have rabbit ears on my TV, sorry. My TV has a cable coming into the back. Therefore, I get to choose what I watch, and it's usually The Weather Channel. (What with the early hurricane season and the drought and all...)
:D
Thanks for the hint, Steve. It made the picture make sense.

Don't worry Kelly.... The current affairs of this country aren't as important as the weather, or is the weather controlled by the environment????
BTW.. I have channels well into the 400 range with my cable too, but get my weather from NOAA usually
http://www.goes.noaa.gov/ECIR3.html
http://weather.unisys.com/forecast.cgi?KGRB
and of course you can get it a weather.com, but that isn't too accurate

Re: Need to explain...
While I didn't know the exact meaning of the letters, I knew what it was referring to.
We are buying a hybrid in a few months, or at least getting on the list. That should compliment our gas guzzeling suv nicely. :D

It's not beautiful
The truth is that the area of ANWR that has been slated for possible drilling is nowhere near the awe inspiring mountains. It is a section of the coastal plain that is simply desolate

Re: Need to explain...
good for you Adina :)
I have been thinking about one myself... in the SUV 4x4 group.
My ford ranger gets 21 MPH average and can go ANYWHERE , but a bigger SUV would be a better vehicle for me at this point. I need more space inside than outside now ;)
