    Flickr accounts

If you've got one, post it here! I searched around to see if I could find previous threads on this, but I couldn't, so I figured I would start one. And we should get a PhotographyReview flickr group!

    Re: Flickr accounts

Funny. I was just looking at my Flickr gallery

I have the PhotographyREVIEW.com Flickr username all locked up, too. I have been planning to use it for a gallery of our Featured Photos. I thought that would be a neat way to promote the site and give our Featured Photogs some more exposure.

    Re: Flickr accounts

Here is mine. Let me know if this link doesn't work.

About the only thing I use my flickr account for, is for photos that I don't want to add to my PR gallery, but I still want to post them in a thread. This allows me to post more than 5 images, and choose where I want them to appear in the thread. So if they look familar, it's because they have all been posted here at some point.

    I have one too, http://flickr.com/photos/pmach/

I second the motion for a group or a place to promote and showcase this site as PJ said, hopefully we can get something going, that would be neat.

Its basically a site that hosts images for you. There are people that use it for just putting up snapshots from a party or outing to share with friends to professional photographers that put some of their work up. I'm not sure that there is any thing that makes it that much better or greater than any other image hosting site. Go to flickr.com and check it out, or take a look at some of the other people from here have by clicking on any one of the links in the posts here going to their flickr.
    Hope that helps.

Maybe I should have read this last night... Had been thinking about setting up an online gallery somewhere. Decided to finally start one last night and I ended up opting for www.pbase.com . It's not a Flickr account but, here's the link for those interested:

I think pbase is a good site too, but flickr is free.

I really like their ftp program.

It's optional, you can also use your web browser.

The automatic inclusion of EXIF data is pretty sweet too.
    Example
    (usually includes ISO data too)

The ability to put your photos on a map is also awesome

It's like asking what makes any site great? They all have their nuances and differences. I looked at several photo sites and decided that 2 would be plenty. I chose this site (photographyreview.com) as it has a more disiplined and still knowledgeable userbase and choose flickr for it's easy to use interface and popularity.

I don't think it detracts from PR at all to have other avenues to showcase you photos. Infact like PJ said, we can use Flickr to promote PR.

My momma always said having me around was like signing up for something she knew she could use, but didn't necessarily want.

    Re: Flickr accounts

I use Picasa because it was the Picture Editor I downloaded to re-size my pictures for this site. The Editor interfaces directly with the Picasa Web Gallery. If it wasn't for that I probably would of setup a Flicker Account. The editor is free and works great for the quick and dirty processing and posting of digital pictures.

pbase has tons of photos, but Flickr is all about the groups. The groups are what makes Flickr what it is. So far, I haven't found anything that compares. I would love to have the group functionality that Flickr has on our gallery. Maybe someday...
