I'm really beginning to enjoy this camera now that I have been playing with it for a few days. But I decided I was going to test one of Canon's claims, which says:
The DIGIC II Image Processor was designed specifically for Canon digital SLR cameras and enhances every aspect of image capture. Information captured by the CMOS sensor is processed and assembled into images of exceptional quality.
One of the things that used to bother me ALOT about the original Rebel is that image detail was not so great when the picture was cropped. I always had to avoid extensive cropping in order to maintain decent image detail.
Not so with the XTi. The following image was processed without any changes through the new software that came with the camera, called Digital Photo Professional, and only given a bit of unsharp mask in Photoshop. I found that so long as my photo is focused correctly in the camera, I can do extensive cropping and still maintain great image detail. Lens used was the EF 50mm f/1.8.

And this is the cropped section:
This alone has made my purchase worth the money. I can't tell you how many photos I discarded because I wanted to crop only a small portion of the image but found it was useless because of the loss in detail. It's relieving to know I won't have to be worrying about this anymore. :-)
