flash compatability?

Can a nikon flash be used on canon, at least to some degree?

Nikon flash and Canon camera won't talk to one another. You could do like 20 years ago - use the Nikon flash with built-in flashmeter to control the expsore and set the Canon camera on Manual with the aperture indicated on the Nikon flash.
