    First scan from Ilford PANF 50

    shot on my Canonet. I kinda like this film. It has a somewhat classic feel to it, which is what I want from this camera. Unfortunately I STILL cannot find my negative holder for my scanner, and so I just had to scan them without it. I'm kinda wondering if they would have turned out different had I used the negative holder.

    BTW, this is my youngest daughter, Adrienne. Photo taken at my sister's house last week in Kenwood.

    I'm gonna try to scan a couple more and post them a bit later.

    Here's a couple more with me and my two daughters. Yes, I entrusted the camera into thier hands, lol. And the last one is of my oldest daughter, Melanie.

    Your having a lot of fun with that Canonet aren't you Ray. First of all the young ladies are beautiful, and the fact that you are putting a camera in their hands makes them even more attractive. I sure can't see how the lose of the neg holder has hurt the scans here. I think they are great. I think you have a winning combination with the film and camera.
    Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Looks great, Ray! I think you would notice a difference if you were trying to get the biggest, cleanest file that you could for printing but I can't imagine that these images would look much different with the attachment.

    "Classic feel" is correct. Very nice shots! What's your next project for the camera? Landscape?

    Wow, very nice pictures! =)
    I like the effect the black and white has.

    All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king.

    I like these pictures. They have a nice "classic" feel to them, sort of reminds me of the 60's even though I wasn't alive back then! Your daughters are really pretty too!

    Re: First scan from Ilford PANF 50

    Thanks everyone. I borrowed a negative film holder from work today but it's not working nearly as well as the way I was scanning it before. So I'm going back to the way I did it and post a few more pics later on.

    Nice shots. Film really does have a natural, "smooth" feel to so it, doesn't it? Glad to see you putting your new cam to use Ray. Am I going to get to play with it this weekend?

    Nice, strong lighting on these shots. Unfortunately, it makes you guys squint a little

    Re: First scan from Ilford PANF 50

    Yeah, I think I'm getting addicted to film. Problem is, it hurts the wallet everytime I bring a roll in. I got smart real quick and am just having negatives developed, then I can scan the ones I like and only have those printed.

    In scanning this roll, I'm learning that the Ilford 50 is strictly a film to shoot in the sun. My negatives are telling me this film is definitely way too slow for shade or indoors.

    And yes, I'll let you play with my Canonet. But I'm trying to decide what film I want to use this weekend. Any suggestions/preferences? Color or b/w? I can't decide.

    Re: First scan from Ilford PANF 50

    I'm going to (try to) carry my Mamiya with me all weekend with black & white. My p&s digi will be for color. I've got a few rolls of Tmax in the fridge waiting for a trip like this one. Backup is Portra NC.

    You're right about only paying for development, especially since you can scan the negs yourself. I've found most of the cost in black and white is in the printing.

    Actually, Rick, I think I'm gonna try Fuji Neopan. I set out to get it last week and ended up with the Ilford. Now that I have an idea of how the former behaves, I should give the latter a try.
