First newspaper photo published
Just got our recent issue of the Record Gazette and found a photo I took published on the front page!! I knew it was going to be published, just didn't know it was going to be on page 1. The caption mentions photos to come next week...more shots from me. :)
Re: First newspaper photo published

Re: First newspaper photo published
Thanks everyone!
swmdrayfan...I actually work for the Record Gazette as a graphic artist, building display and classified ads. The paper is so small they don't really have a photographer. Every reporter just shoots his own with a point and shoot.
The reporter to whom I gave the photos came back and said they were "excellent", so it looks like I will get sent on more photo assignments (overtime pay!).
Here is the actual photo uncropped.

Point & shoot, eh? Still, very nice work. The kid makes me think of Opie Taylor. :p
Re: First newspaper photo published
Congrats on the photo, and good luck on your future photo assignments, overtime is always a good thing.. swmdrayfan your right, he does look like Opie
Re: First newspaper photo published
No, this was shot with my Digital Rebel and Sigma 17-50 lens. It was the reporters who use point and shoot cameras, and publish mostly "snapshots". Being a small paper they can't afford a professional photographer so every reporter just takes his own pics. This next issue will feature a color collage of my photos at the police badge event. These weren't even my best work, but they really liked them. I'll post the other pictures when the paper comes out.
