first images with new Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 DC lens

I absolutely LOVE this new lens. I'm having so much fun with a wide angle, and it will come in real handy for certain types of pictures that I've been wanting to take.

Just a few household critters below, and a nice sunset image.

#1 L.B. (short for "little butt") the cat, a great cottontail bunny hunter. Likes to eat just the heads.
#2 Candy, offering a bit of a smile.
#3 Ziggy, 80 lbs. of lean, mean Rottweiler. Actually he's a big baby.
#4 Sun rays over the hills in Acton, Ca.

Well, From what I can see in your photos, that Sigma would seem to be pretty sharp.
Your cat only eats the HEADS? It doesn't know what it's missing. ;)

    Re: Nice!

Thanks Bruce & Liz! The other cat (Otto, not pictured) likes to catch mice and eat their heads. We find headless rabbits and mice all over the place. I don't know why they like the heads so much, but they do.

Liz, don't feel too bad for the rabbits. There's a gazillion of them here. I could walk out any night and find 20 rabbits feeding on the lawn. A few dead cottontails a week ain't gonna hurt their population numbers in this area, lol.

By the way, I couldn't believe how inexpensive this lens was. I purchased it through Amazon.com (it actually was sent by J.R.'s Music) because there I found the lowest price: $111 plus some change, which included 2nd UPS shipping. I figured for that price I can afford to try it, and if it was junk then I wasn't out too much money. But it seems to be a nice little lens from what I can see.

That DOES sound quite reasonable. Congrats on your new lens.

Very nice Ray. You always get more out of those Sigma lens than anyone I know. That price sounds like a real steal.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Fantastic images Ray

They are making me consider picking up one of these lenses before I go to Hawaii next month!

How have things been? I hope all is well with you and your lovely wife. Keith and Tim both say hi and are wondering when we are all getting together again. Keith is still telling the "Oh no, rice again?!?!" joke. I get a big grin everytime he starts it.

    Re: Fantastic images Ray

    Hey Briaaaaan!!!!

Good to hear from you! Everything is well with us, hope it is with you and boys as well. Tell them I said Hi! and careful who they tell that joke to, hehe.

Sure have missed you posting on the forum. Hope to see more of you around here. We might take a trip down to San Diego before summer's end...if we do we'll try to make arrangements to stop by and visit with ya for a while if you have the time.

For the money this lens is definitely worth it if, like me, you can't afford the more expensive, faster lenses. Going to Hawaii? Can I come? Can I, can I? Ah, one of these days.

Again, good to see you posting again.
