Point me to the Kiddie Pool

    Hello everybody!
A couple friends have encouraged me to join this site ... so here I am!
After looking around a little, I hope I'm not getting in over my head.

I've never seriously studied photography, but I do think I have an eye for composition. I tote around a digital canon, 4 mega pixel, that's around 6 years old. I can't even begin to tell you what 90% of the buttons on this thing do - it was a gift and I'm not much on reading manuals. So it's mostly gets set to "A" and I point and shoot.

I work at Renaissance Festivals many weekends out of the year. Lot of interesting photo ops there. But since I'm working, I don't always get to pull my camera out.

I love taking photos of nature. About all that ever becomes of my photos is they serve as my desktop wallpaper for a short period of time.

So point me at the kiddie pool, I'll either sink or swim and I'll try to keep out of the big kids' way!

there aren't any sharks in these waters! welcome to our puddle! I hope some of the dolphins that are here can be off as much assistance to you as they have to me. I learn something new everyday on here!
Seriously though this place is all about sharing and learning so hopefully we can show you what those buttons do and perhaps you can post a review that will let everyone know what you like and don't like about your camera.
I hope to see you around.

Welcome again Mary. I commented on your photo in the galley and was warned by Dana to watch out for you. You are off to a terrific start here on PR. I know you are going to make a quick and lasting impression on many of us. Simon said it all when he said there were no sharks in these waters. We try to be supportive and helpful in your effort to improve you photography. Stick around and find out for your self. Nice to have you aboard and throw away the life preserver you won't need it here in these waters.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

This whole site is the kiddie pool. We are all kids at heart, doing what we love best of all. So pinch your nose and jump in, it's time to get wet!
