    Fall Foliage Photo Gallery
I just created a fall foliage gallery. Well, I didn't actually create it. All I had to do was search the keyword "foliage," in the gallery. Here's the gallery:

    Fall Foliage Gallery >>

I just went through some of my recent photos that include pretty fall colors and updated the keywords to include the words "fall" and "foliage." If you've been posting fall colors photos, please make sure you "fall" and "foliage" in the keywords field in the gallery. If you didn't include any keywords, you can edit your photos by clicking on the "Edit Photo" link in the info area below the photo. You can do the same thing if you uploaded photos to the gallery from the forums. Right now they're mostly my photos so please update your photos so this isn't a private gallery :)

If you've got fall foliage photos you haven't posted or want to share, post them here now! And make sure you go to the gallery after you've uploaded them so you can update the keywords and other tech info :)

I added some from my gallery. Hope to have some from this year if the rain and gloom ever stop.

Those are really nice. I like the closeup decay photos.

It doesn't look like these got posted to your member gallery or the foliage keywrod gallery, though. Did you uncheck the "Add the photos to your member's gallery" link when you uploaded them?

    Bumpity bump.

I know you guys are taking fall photos. How about adding them to the foliage gallery so that they're easier to find :)

That's a really beautiful leaf, Alison! Don't you love taking photos of individual leaves? I could waste a whole day walking around looking at all the color and shape variations. I like how this one isn't perfectly balanced. That chopped of lobe on the right side gives it extra character :)

Thanks for adding to the gallery!

After moving way south I am still waiting for the color. It's just about here...hopefully I'll get a little time off work so I'm able to get out and take some shots.

Where do you live now? Do you need to update your profile? It says Sheridan, WY.

I'm worried the big storm coming through Utah tonight is gonna wipe out the remaining leaves.

One more for the gallery. Another of the Canon 30d with legacy M42 mount lens via adapter experiments.

    Jura waterfalls
My favourite part of the world in autumn is the Jura region of France, just before you get to Switzerland. I won't have time to get over there this year..

Technical note: Photos 1 & 2 are on a Hasselblad with film and 3 and 4 were done on a D200 with the Nikon 18-200. Having a sturdy tripod is a big help

spent 45 minutes trying to get a good manual focus on this one. Best I came up with.

took a while but finally figured out how to get it in the right place

    Frog,

    Autofocus wouldn't work ?

What was the trick to get it to focus the whole leaf?

I'm guessing the leaf is fairly flat, and the camera is as perpendicular as possible to the leaf ?

    Re: Fall Foliage Photo Gallery
The perpindicular was a bit tricky with the ground running quickly down in front of me and needing to raise the tripod including center column a couple of inches and then the sigma 70-300 had to be far enough to focus at all. The auto focus would work but not good enough.

The second to last one there is a real beauty, Charles. I need to make a trip to France.

With my bike, of course :)

The third and fourth images were done in the Gorges de l'Herrisson. A description is here:

    http://www.interfrance.com/en/fc/na_wf.html

I usually start at the car park at the top end near Doucier. To start with it's meadows and you're not very aware of the river but after a while the footpath and river join is a fairly narrow gorge with a succession of views.

Then all of a sudden the river drops over a waterfall 180 feet high and pick your way down a narrow, slippery set of steps till you get back on even ground.

The best time to do pictures (in Autumn) is in the second half of the afternoon, when the sun comes round and lights the gorges. In winter - you need shoes with ice studs, it's really hairy.
