    1000 posts...yeah, I'm gonna brag about it

Well it's taken me long enough to get here, and some on the forum have quadruple the amount of posts I've made (they just like to talk too much, that's all), but for me it's a landmark. A lot of what I've learned about photography has come from THIS site. So first of all I want to thank EVERYONE who has provided me with input on my photography. You guys don't know how much of an impact you have made in my skills.

I started shooting pictures not more than 3 years ago, and in that amount of time I feel I've made quite a bit of progress (though still much too learn!). And so many of you share a part in that progress, so again I say THANK YOU!! One knows he has made progress when people are willing to pay for his photography, and although I have yet to seriously push my work I have indeed made some money from it here and there. Not only have you folks helped my skills, but you have been a great encouragement as well. Keep up the good work PR people!

And thank you John for a THE BEST photography site there is.

Here is a photo I found from way back in 2004. It's been one of my favorites and I thought I should commemorate the event with it. Shot with the Nikon CoolPix 5000. How many of you remember this one?

Congrats to you Ray. Although the 1000 post count is puzzling to the non-internet-forum type, I know it means something to us in a way that we've expressed ourselves and communicated so many times under the umbrella of a greatly shared interest called, "photography." The exchange of thoughts is greater than any academic class in my opinion.

I didn't know about your PR and photography history. I think you've come along way in a short time. It's like when I watch poker shows and find out the million-dollar winner has been playing shorter than myself. I'm very impressed.

By the way, very nice shot you have there. Good enough for a magazine ad!

    Have a good one!

Way to go RAY!! Landmark post for sure. And yes your images have improved at a very steady rate. Even though I have been at this game many more years than you I can truely echo your sentiments. The guys and gals here on PR are the best and my photography has improved over the last couple of years by leaps and bounds just as you say your's has. Thanks to you for your willness to be an active member here on PR and for all the inspiration and help you freely give to others here on PR.

Great shot Ray! And congrats on you 1,000th post!

I've enjoyed watching you grow over the years and consider it an honor to have been even a small part of the process.

    Keep shooting!

PS. I let you win so that you'd have an encentive to make the LA instead of a reason to bail. ;)

Re: 1000 posts...yeah, I'm gonna brag about it

Thank you everyone for your comments! Somehow I feel more prestige now that I'm a 1K club member, HEHE. Do I get a ring or something? No? Ok, just asking.

Brian, now you've gone and done it. I'm just gonna have to show up for my FREE frostie. :-)

Yes, I do have to give Penny thanks. She is the one responsible for my being here. Back when I started I only had a 1.3 megapixel Sony camera to work with. But that's all it took, and I was hooked! Thanks Penny!

Manasca, yes I'm actually still a newbie to photography...but it goes to show how much one can learn from others. There's a lot of knowledgeable people here, and I have taken advantage of that, and hopefully I can give some of it back to others who need it.

OT, yes I've tried other photo sites, but none of them compare to PR. These guys are the best!

AV, what took me so long? Um...work, church, kids, wife, dogs, work, church, kids, wife, dog, repeat a few more times, lol.

DRG, I never thought about selling the shot to the owner. Don't even know if I have it anymore. Would have been a great idea had I actually thought of it back them. :mad2:

Thanks Nat! My next goal is to actually start getting serious about pushing my photography. I've got a few ideas in mind but they need working out first. What kind of service to offer, what to charge, etc. Here in Banning they desperately need a good photog. If you saw our newspaper you'd know why.

Congratulations Ray on reaching the 1000 mark! That one is a big one. Like you, most of what I've learned about photography I learned here. I've bought dozens of books, and subscribe to a couple of photography magazines, which have helped, but the bulk of what I know I credit the folks on PR for teaching me. This is indeed the best photography site around!
