estimating value of second hand gear
I have a lot of stuff that I don't really use anymore.
mostly flashes and filters etc although if I can sell them at the right price I might be persuaded to sell some lenses and maybe a body as well (did anyone notice that I am short on cash)
I know that I will probably not get anywhere near what I think these things are worth, but does anyone know where I might be able to get rough estimates on the values of some of these things? and other than ebay where I might go to sell them?
Re: estimating value of second hand gear
I usually check the selling prices of gear at a combo of Keh.com, B&H, Adorama, and Ebay.

I do the same plus maybe craig's list. If you have an ebay account you can see what the items have sold for for the last month or so. Not sure how far back they go.
Re: estimating value of second hand gear
problem is that I am selling in australia and there aren't many listings for things like canon 135mm f2.8 soft focus lenses or metz 45ct4 flashes and most of the ones that are listed are for shops in taiwan. I am really reluctant to sell this stuff (well the filters is ok but I am sure they are worth nothing in the digital age) so I really only want to list it if I can get a goodish price. I will check out those websites though. Craigslist really isn't used that much here though.

If you go to the KEH.com website, then to selling your equipment, there is a section where you can fill out some information, submit it - and they will email you with an estimate. No commitment to sell to them, but at least you will get an idea of what you might get for it. And, I might add that their estimates are fair - more than what you get from most dealers. They gave me over $100 more for a camera than B&H offered me. I know you would not be selling to them, but their estimates are close to what you can get if you sell it outright whereas most dealers offer you much less than you could get for it elsewhere.
Ok - here is the direct link to KEH to get an estimate.....
