    DON'T LOOK! If your squeamish...
This image is not for everyone. If your a little squeamish or if you have a pet pig at home hit BACK NOW!!

Giving you another chance not to go on.

If your still here than let me say that I was having a little fun as we were getting a hog ready for a pig roast last weekend. My son grabbed the D70 and I hammed it up a bit. Hope I haven't offended anyone. Some of the women folk decided they didn't want to be around for this part of the procedure. As far as I can remember though they all had their plates piled pretty high the next afternoon. All I can say is it was some good eating about 20 hours later.

MMMM I can almost taste the pork! Some friends from work got together a few years back and roasted a hog, and a dear at the same time in the same roaster. That was the best pork and venison I have ever had. They both just melted in your mouth. Maybe you should bring that roaster to the the "National" gathering next year!

Great, thanks Larry... Now I'm hungry and all I have here is a peanut buttter sandwich. What a dissapointment that's going to be...

Being a once avid hunter this doesn't bother me a bit, but for those who've grown up on grocery store meat and have never given it a second thought as to where their food comes from, I can see how they can get squirmish.

My only complaint is that I wasn't invited. :D

Those Amish folk look like a photo op in and of themselves.

It was a great party after an outdoor wedding in central Pennsylvania. It was at my brother-in-law's who is a Wesleyan minister and avid outdoors man. It was a real concession for him to have domestic meat. He would have normally had deer, elk or maybe even bear. He has a number of Amish friends that attended the wedding and pig roast. I do have a few more images of them but out of respect for their beliefs keep them to a minimum and I tried not to be intrusive.

    awww yeah! Nothing like it!

my daughter (5) has started calling all the meats by their proper name for some reason.

A bbq pork sandwich is now called a "pig sandwich" And she points out that the baby backs were eating last weekend "are really pig you know" A burger is now a "cow sandwich" but for some reason she couldn't figure out why they call chicken "chicken" since most other meats have different names. Too funny and too jessica simpson!

going to have to have bbq again this weekend now - thanks OT!

Hehehehe. Very good OT! You are indeed a "ham".

    ;-)

Doesn't bother me in the least. Being a hunter and having field dressed everything from dove to deer, seeing raw meat doesn't make me squeamish in the least.

You know, every time someone posts a "don't look if" thread, I feel obligated to look! Next time title it "gutted pig" and I'll know better!

Everyone says roasted pig is soo good, but the whole concept of it seems gross to me. And I have definitely NOT grown up on grocery store meat.

Looks like a good time though! (aside from the blood)

Naaah, too quote Terrible Ted (the Nuge) we whacked him, packed him, and smoked him years ago. (Oh, that was Bambi)

Looks real good. Just had some roasted hog myself this week. Looks like this was properly stuffed. Fruits, onions, asst. vegies, even potatoes?

Next time, it better be a PR event. :D

The picture of the old order Amish is a real unusual sight!

I'm glad I didn't offend too many of my friends on PR . It was a great party and I wanted to share with everyone.

And Adina what about DON"T LOOK don't you understand? It wasn't a trick to get you to look. I really tried to keep the squeamish away. It was all in fun sorry if I grossed anyone out.

I'll post a few more of our Amish friends in another thread later.

Hammed it up a bit? lolol & snort!

We did a roasted pig for my son's grad party. Luckily, I only saw it after he was cooked. It was still gross to look at though.

I can't help it! Even when I was little, my mom said "don't touch that, it's hot" and I had to touch it to make sure!

I kept waiting for the really gruesome photos in the empty apces at the top to open. After clicking on the thread a few times since you posted, I finally figured out that there weren't any photos there.

I love pig. It's delicious. I also believe that everyone that eats meat should have at least one hunting and slaughter experience so that they're more aware of the reality of what they eat. Hunting and slaughter, if done correctly, should inspire respect and awe in the participant.

And now, after that public service announcement, where's my ham!?

I'm a meat eating hypocrite. I think if I had to see an animal slaughtered I'd never eat it again.
