Different for me... a male model

Well, here's something out of the ordinary for me...working with a male model. He wanted some edgy stuff, so we worked mostly in b&w, and experimented with some gariny films. I like this one.

It's only fair to give equal time to the female viewers.

It's natural for heterosexual guys to want to take pictures of pretty women. But I think it's good for the soul and the aesthetic sense for us to also take pictures of men. We have to work a little harder to see and we have to be open-minded. It's a good process and all of our photography should benefit.

I like the tonal quality and the grain in this photo. I'm not entirely sure about the angle of the model's head, though. His mouth also looks a bit tight, like he's biting his upper lip or something. But it's still nice. And I'm glad to see you trying something new. As I said, it's good for the soul.

Thanks, all. P-J...yeah, we actually did some figure work, as well. This shot..he was tight-lipped, going for an angry look. I enjoyed working with Richard, gave me a whole new set of issues to think about re: lighting, film choice, etc. Thanks again.

Do we get to see the figure work? I am, of course, only interested from an artistic point of view.

Hey, turnabout is fair play! And I've told several guys on this forum to show their significant others, the shots I've posted of Dawn to help grease the skids. Maybe your hubby will be inspired by this. Appeal to his sense of manhood: "C'mon honey, you look MUCH better than that guy!" Good luck.

This shot was slated for the trash bin, but I increased the contrast to give it an odd white-on-black look, rather than the other way around. It's still slated for the trash bin tonight. :-)

For direct frontal lighting - to show detail on his back, and hence, show figure. My two cents worth. Please correct me if I'm missing something.

Ha ha ... sure, anytime. I actually had a young assistant(male) pass out on me during a figure shoot with a very beautiful model. Guess it was getting a little too warm for him. :-)
