Well, this just goes to prove that looks can be deceiveing! It's not too bad, but it has it's moments. I really like what I do. I really hate working for Carteret County. My wife worked for the county for four and a half years, and was glad to leave, and has been waiting for me to leave ever since.
Right now we have serveral package plants being repaired or rebuilt, so we have lots going on, and I get plenty of photo opportunities. Most of them are dull and uninteresting to those who don't work in this field, but we use the photo's for continuing education classes we teach at the local community college, as well as presentations to town, county and state officials. Hundreds of my photo's have been seen by hundreds of people around the state (and a few people from other states), and a few of my photo's are being used at Centralized Training in Raleigh where they train new Environmental Health Specialists. I guess I must be doing something right!
You are so right about the accidental shots turning out beyond what you expect. My only "complaint" about the self-portrait is the look on my face. I couldn't get in front of the panel I was trying to photograph due to other equipment being in the way, so I was holding the camera out and trying to get it perpendicular to the panel so I didn't get a lot of distortion. That's why I have the intense look on my face. But I still thought it was a neat capture.
Thanks for the comments. They are always appreciated.
