    D600 at ISO 6400
I shot this image hand held of my son carving pumpkins at ISO 6400 with my D600 using a Nikon 70-200VR lens with a 20E III 2X teleconverter. This is straight out of the camera except for re-size so I could post it. This is a JPEG image.

Thanks everyone. The more I use the D600 the more impressed I am with it and all of it's abilities. At first I was having some shots that were not coming out in focus and was getting concerned that my hands were not as steady as the use to be but then I noticed that I hadn't turned on a2 in the CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU so my camera would only take a picture after achieving focus. Now I am a happy camper again!

I am in love with the high ISO capabilities of the newer Nikons. I am regualarly shooting at 6400 and even 8000 at some sporting events. The d600 looks like it is holding up to the standard the D3 set.

Haven't done any serious low light on the D7100 yet. I always take the D800
