Clouded Spirit

Hello gang!

My last trip to Mt. St. Helens was so enjoyable, I decided to go back again and do several more hikes. The shot below was taken during first light while on Independence Trail, a moderate 7 mile hike with fantastic views of Mt. St. Helens (and Spirit Lake), Mt. Hood, and Mt. Adams. I started out well before dawn, with a trusty flashlight and all my camera gear. About an hour into the hike, I stopped to photograph this scene. You're looking at Mt. St. Helens and Spirit Lake, blanketed with a thick layer of clouds. The FG displays the destructive nature of 1980's volcano and the beginnings of a rebirth. Enjoy!
