    Unhappy Sad News

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.

Larry La Prise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey," died peacefully at age 93.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin.

They put his left leg in...

    And then the trouble started.

Sorry, I couldn't resist passing that one on. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    thank you

Just what I needed this morning. I was going down to the basement to start some laundry, imagine my surprise at the 5 inches of water on the floor. There is stuff just floating around down there like little boats. We've been getting pounded with rain all week.

Also the bolt that holds the blade in on the lawnmower snapped last Saturday. Thankfully, the mower wasn't going anywhere, so it just fell off onto the ground. And we are still under warrenty, so that's good.

We did get our garden planted though, and I guess we won't need to water it anytime soon

To top it off, my dh was away on business for the past two weeks, so this all happened to me here with the girls. Luckily my mommy is just a phone call away, and we have wonderful (extremely wonderful) neighbors who have been more than happy to help us if we need it. Which was right where I went when I found the swimming pool in my basement. He brought over a pump, and it is draining, but man, how annoying!

Oh yeah, we just put new drywall up down there and sectioned it off. It's soppy now.

    The final nail...

They said Mr. LaPrise was never quite the same after the MACARENA started replacing his beloved song as the requisite goofball wedding reception dance...

And that's what it's all about...

BTW, I'll bet you never thought you'd see the words "requisite" and "goofball" next to each other in a sentence, eh? ;)

This wouldn't have anything to do with...

...that "flushing the system" stuff you posted before, now would it???

Look at the bright side. This may a good time to teach the kids how to swim...

No that water went the other way, down the road (we're on a slight hill) and into the guy on the corner's basement. But I'm considering myself lucky, the town 5 miles over has no power yet (off since early this morning) and the town 5 miles the other way has flooding upto the curbs. Streets are like rivers. And we have trees down all over town. And while I have one or two I'd like to come down, I'm grateful they didn't last night.

And my oldest was ready to go down there and start swimming, she was so excited.

You just had to go THERE, didn't you?

It does tie in nicely with her story though.

The Macarena? That flash in the pan? :-O

And you are quite correct - I NEVER thought I'd see the words "requisite" and "goofball" next to each other in a sentence! Nicely done, Mr. Shakespeare.
