The Christening of the Alien Bee!
My light came today!!! Along with the softbox, reflector, and back drops! It was Christmas at my house!!!!!!

I wanted to share these here as they aren't crique worthy... since they are all test shots that I just snapped while getting things set up. But I wanted to share the Alien's Christening!!

Hey, these ain't half bad for just being "right out of the box". In fact, they're not bad at all! A little practice and soon you'll be taking some faaaantastic pictures! And please remember, if you ever get tired of them you can always donate them to me, hehe.

Who are you trying to fool??? :)
    CC,

Drop the modesty act. These shots are quite wonderful results for a first time monolight user. You have a beautiful soft but directional light which IMO is perfect for this kind of work.

Do you have any idea how many shooters have worked with these lights for years and have not been able to produce the results you got the first time? You have an affinity or a feel for lighting, that's for sure.

BTW, I'm not quite sure what you meant with your comment about them not being "Critique worthy". Others may disagree with me, but I've aways felt Critique is where you post until you get good enough to post in Viewfinder... ;)

    Great shots Kate..
Your lighting is excellent. It really makes a huge difference in the softness and non glare. You must have studied in advance how to use that equiptment. I can't beleive the professionalism in your portraits. I love that last one of your baby. He's a happy little munchkin and so cute.

    Steve, true true.

Thanks for the compliments! I swear, this is my first go with this light. I feel better about the results after reading these replies! It's very daunting, the whole light thing... especially when you have gotten used to using only natural light!!!

    Chaos,

Which package did you pick up? I was checking out the AlienBees website but i am having a hard time deciding what would be suitable.

I love my B800's. I currently have 2 of them. Great lights! Lightweight, dependable.

    By the way, great shots!

Love that last one. Something about baby toes.....

Great shots, especially for your first attempt! I'd be thrilled, especially since I am to scared to buy lights :)

    Todd...
.... I just have one 800, a giant reflector, and the giant softbox.

Oh, and the heavy duty light stand. That soft box is ENORMOUS.
