childhood toys and visualizations
this was one of my favorite toys as a kid...I spent hours looking at the colors and the patterns and listening to the sounds of the bits of glass shift inside...this pretty much started my fascination with glass and light and colors and every time I use one I'm transported back to the hazy lazy days of laying on the gras looking thru trees and looking at the sky thru my kaleidascope and feeling the warmth of the sun on my cheeks and my legs...
what was your favorite childhood toy and what "picture" is stuck in your head
because of it... and if you have a pic share it...

Can I hear a second to this post---COME ON

By the power of Greyskull...
I have the power!!
Heh heh I've posted this one before but you reminded me of it. I pulled these out of my mom's attic and after playing with them for awhile (!) I took a picture. I don't have He-Man anymore, just Adam. I have Castle Greyskull though!!

Easy for me to decide...
My Star Wars toys.
I still have quite a bit of my original collection from the '70 and '80s. Before eBay became to super clearing house of the Internet that it is today, I was able to use it to gain back some of the pieces that I lost.
Now, most everything on eBay is considered ''vintage'' or ''collectable'' and at a high price.
Here's a photo I took not too long ago... these aren't the original action figure series, but they're still a prized part of my collection.

YOU have the power
that's when I first started thinking you were alright ;)
-
Thanks Nat.
Pinocchio still sits on one of my shelves. I have other Disney stuff, but it's all packed away.

No pictures, but..the little green Army men were an all time favorite. Oh, and little Cowboys and Indians.
Wait, I was only a kid like..5 years ago. No..no..I wasnt still playing with those at 12..so maybe 7 years ago. When's the average age kids stop playing with toys? Heh, I remember my Mom hopping through the house trying not to swear after stepping on an Army man..ahh, good memories.
-
those and legos hurt BAD
are you supposed to stop playing with toys??????
-
Well, there might be a slight problem if you're 30 and still playing with Army men :p. But stop playing with toys? Never, why else do we spend so much on cameras?
-
oh oops
so 32 is pushing it huh  :D
-
Nah...
I never saw anything wrong with playing with toys, no matter what your age.
Of course, I shouldn't be the one offering an opinion on this.
You know how some collectors buy toys (in my case: the latest Star Wars action figure) and keep it all nice and pristine in its' box, trying to preserve its' value? Well, that ain't me. Once I'm home it's, "let's open this sucker and check out those battle action movements!"
Hey, if I want to invest, I'll buy stocks! ;)

Disney?!? And I thought I knew you...
Lara, I think it's safe to say one either likes Disney or Warner Brothers, but not BOTH!
I think anyone that knows me knows which camp I'm in: I'm a WB freak all the way. Why, many have even compared my general dispositon to one of my heros, a certain Mister Bugs Bunny... :D
Now, I understand how one can be suckered in to the Disney "trap" as a kid. Heck, there's even some Disney features I still like (Lady & Tramp and Aladin come to mind), but at SOME POINT you see through the veil and realize not only are WB cartoon characters infinitely better and funnier, but ANY of them could kick ANY Disney character's butt in a fight... ;)
IMO, the only D character worth a darn is Tigger. And that's not just because I can do his laugh pretty well, but because I love Paul Winchell (guy who used to do his voice).
Ok, ok, I'm getting a little emotional. I'm sorry. It's just that living about an hour away from WDW has really made my life a living hell. I know the Disney characters are out there, and I'm pretty sure they're coming to get me! WAIT! What's that at the window?!?!? Oh, ok, it was nothing...
I just need to get to my support group, and I'll be ok. :(
I guess your follow up post that you have most of your Disney crap boxed up is a good sign. There may be hope for you yet. If this was just a misguided childhood thing, I forgive you. Just go watch some Looney Tunes as quickly as you can!
BTW, the pic is the top of my pc monitor, and is just a TINY sample of my (sometimes) embarrassing large cartoon toy collection. Yes, I realize I have a Princess Jasmine (hanging from Godzilla) up there, but she's a Disney BABE, and that's different. ;)
BTW2, yes that is Princess Amidala chained to Marvin's Dog in a rather provocative position, and I do admit that's a well worn pic of Lucy Liu taped to my pc, but those are topics for discussion on another day, heh heh...
BTW3, if you guys promise to behave, I may just show you more of my workstation with many more of my fabulous toys!
Oh, yes, to answer the original question, the toys I no longer have that I played with a lot as a kid are my Matchbox cars... :)

No pic here, But...
I have no pic, but I sure have memories of my most favorite toy..
I am of course talking about my bike.
I used to have this "circuit" I rode on my "10 speed" on, it could have been one mile long, it could have been 10..
Anyway, I would always pretend I was racing, and winning the Tour de France. I really would play out riding in "The Tour", battling it out with the other racers, the climbs, the time trials, etc..
At the end of the "circuit" I would raise my hands above my head victorious, dragging the likes of LeMond, Coppi, Hinnault, Finnongt(sp French), across the finish line..
Ahhhh Memories!
Another Great post Nat!
Thanks!
Brian

Toys.........
Nat,
I have no pics of my toys except for the last one on the list - but no digital pics.
My favorite toys as a young girl:
2 teddy bears: Michael and Carbunkle (no idea where that came from)
My girlfriend's doll - it was the only doll I had ever seen that looked and felt like a real baby. She let me play with it - we used to "trade" dolls. :)
My bicycle........loved to ride that bike.
And my sister (I used to play house with her as my baby - she is 6 years younger than me) :D
Today's toys: :D  :D

Working on the old, but here's a new...
Hi All,
Hope you're well. I was working on my old favorite toy shot, and the darn thing broke. (yeah, its old!) So while I fix it, I decided to post my childrens favorite "child hood toy"
HULK GLOVES!!!! Have you seen these yet? They are these big foam green hulk (Incredible Hulk!) hands, and you put them on and punch the crap out of your favorite unlce, or until your bro screams "Unlce!"
Hence, the shots of my kids beating their uncle down!
These shots are not good at all, but funny.
I like the ones of the kids jumping off the couch.
Will be getting my old favorite post up soon.
