I would think that if someone suggested you eat your prints, that would be more like Picasso eating his canvas. As the canvas is the final product, as are the prints/digital files. To drink the gasoline infested water would be more like Picasso drinking paint.

Also, I've never seen a deen, but I'm sure that their urine is less pollutant than gasoline. As for deer and other wildlife, I'm sure that their urine is similar to human urine, and can be consumed if necessary. Remember that if you are ever lost at sea. :)

As was stated above, I'm sure this post, and the "art" that is the topic of such controversy, was done for shock value.

One time my brother and I filled a bowl with baking powder (or soda, not sure) and then hid in the pantry while we poured vinegar in the bowl. It foamed up all over the place, and made a big mess, which we didn't clean up.

We get yelled at when my mom found it. :}

I also agree that this "art" was done for shock value, and judging by the 500 plus "views" of this thread in a little over 24 hours, I would say you succeded in your goal.

This one time, at band camp... Ok, it was in our garage when we were kids. My brother took a lighter, and a can of WD-40 and made a little flame thrower out of it. He proceded to light me on fire with it. Ah, the good ole days. :) It was just the WD-40 burning off the sleeve of my jacket, but it scared the crap out of me.

Ah yes, the good ole WD-40 flamethrower. My brother and I discovered that when I was in Jr. High. Lets just say that some of my sister's Barbie dolls were a little flame broiled.

When I was about 4, my brother (6) and my cousin (7) used to load up the Millenium Falcon (did I mangle that spelling) and shoot it out the attic window (3rd floor) because "it flies on TV". All the Star Wars guys were in body casts.

Here is my niece reaction when I told her about someone pouring harmful chemicals into streams. Actually, I was just havin fun with the camera at the time. :) Comments? Critiques?

LOL, Adina. I used to do all sorts of stuff like that when I was a kid. I lost so many GI Joes because I would make parachutes for them out of plastic bags.

While I am particulary opposed to extreme enviro-mentalists like tree huggers and the like, this guy is on the opposite end of the dumb spectrum.

In any event I would love to see his site shut down and his having to pay a HEFTY fine for all his pollution, er, I mean art.

yes, the melting of plastic toys, been there, done that. I love the launching of the millinium falcon out the window...BRILLIANT.

As for our gasoline pouring friend....I really don't think God appriciates us ruining his creation he put under our care for the sake of photography. And Gasoline is an oil product, and dispite all the ad campains and lies, there is no such thing as a clean burning gasoline. I know, I've done emisions tests.

Most of the tree huggers I've met have been pretty laid back. I don't know if you're referring to the ones who burn down construction developments and vandalize SUV's, but that seems a little counter productive to me. There will always be extremists with whatever point can be argued.

Hey, I'm still here but i've been very busy lately though i am thankful for your concern over my whereabouts. Many people have been emailing me to tell me that i have been nominated not only for the Ohio Environmental Photography Award or (OHIO EPA for short) but also the national Environmental Photography Award! With all of these nominations i feel that i am a lock to win, who would have thought a simple man from Plainsfield Ohio would be nominated for such a prestigious national award. unbelievable. As a chemical engineer, I can tell you that it doesn't matter what kind of "safe-burning" gasoline you are dumping in streams. It's still pollutant. And to call your art revolutionary just further backs up the idea that you think more of yourself and the things you do than having consideration of other species on this planet, maybe even the animals that are drinking out of the now-polluted water? perhaps you should taste some gasoline mixed with water, then you may understand exactly what you're doing. I realize it's been said before, and in no way is as ridiculous as having picasso eat his prints. You made an absolutely atroscious analogy. It's amazing how naïve you can be, just to get your new "amazing" type of art.

in reference to your "art" if that's what you want to call it, it's not that extraordinary anyways. The colors are bland, and the reflections you're going for can be achieved by taking photos of any kind of non-polluted water. You'll achieve better color with a scene reflecting off a clear lake anyways. The first thing that stuck me about your photos is how brown they were.

Naw, what we need are rational people in the middle, Adina. The extremists on both ends either want to exploit our lands and natural resources to no end or make them off limits altogether. Neither, however, seem to understand that somewhere in the middle is true conservationsim, that we can use our lands and natural resources and at the same time protect the environment. This is in part why we can't drill off the coast of California or Alaska when there's a ton of oil just sitting there waiting to be pulled out of the ground. I guess no one's ever heard of the fact that oil naturally seeps into our oceans, but come down to Malibu sometime and you can pick it up right off the sand and even out of the sandstone rock on the cliffs.

I happen to be a recreational gold prospector. I metal detect, pan, sluice, dredge and drywash, and none of these methods hurt or damage the environment in any way. In fact, some of them, like dredging, have been proven to actually help the environment. Yet despite these facts, well-known environmentalist groups are constantly lobbying to close off our public lands from this and other types of recreation. And they have been very successful at it too. And thanks to Clinton, thousands upon thousands of acres within our public national forests are now inaccessible because of the roadless forest initiative.

So no, I don't want one extreme view balancing out the other. I want both extreme views squashed altogether and for people to get back to common sense. But then again I want a new, expensive metal detector too. Looks I won't be seeing either one anytime soon. :)

Well perhaps the tree huggers you're acquainted with don't break laws in order to get their point across. That's fine, and I can tolerate that. But I was referring to those who trespass onto other people's property, strap themselves high up on a tree, and make demands. I also consider extreme those environmental groups who lobby to have our public lands closed off, preferring confiscation over conservation.

I have nothing new to add to this. This is just the first time I have seen this, and I think it is absolutly digusting. Not the kind of thing that I, as a christian and photographer, would ever do.
