I just wanted to add my 2 cents. Can't remember if I told you, but I got an R2A and a couple of lenses about three months ago. Couldn't be happier. It's a blast to use and the lenses are fantastic. Go shoot a few rolls in that Canonet and if it doesn't do anything for you, then don't worry about it. But if you like it, you'll like a Bessa even more.

Not much.
The frame lines, the R2 has 35, 50, 75 and 90, while the R3 has 40, 50, 75 and 90.
HOWEVER, the R3 has a 1:1 viewfinder, which is apparently the only RF ever to have such a such a viewfinder.

Brian, I just noticed they now have an R4M out with built in parallax projected framelines for 21, 25, 28, 35, and 50mm lenses. See here. A tad more expensive, but looks promising.

I know I'll never be able to afford a leica, but the R4M would be a nice affordable second choice.

Interestingly enough, I just got a letter from a local school district wanting to hire me as a classified substitute employee. Hmm...just maybe with that extra money I'll be able to afford one!

Yeah the R4 came out this past April.
I am with you about not being to afford or justify a Leica, so I feel that the Bessa is great alternative.
It sounds the teaching job has come at the right time!

Go for it, Ray! I think eventually I'll get an R4 as a second body, but there are lots of other things that are higher on my list. The build quality of the Bessas is up to par with my Nikons, so I see no reason to shell out for a Leica...especially with wide angle lenses, where focus accuracy is not as critical.
