    Candid Portraits
You don't normally think of a 300mm lens as a portrait lens. But for candid portraits in a crowded setting it works pretty well. Keeps you back from the subject and keeps you from being obtrusive in any way. Here are a few I took last week at a track meet.

Greats shots Old Timer. Yeah I was using my telephoto (Nikkor AF-S 55-200 VR) in that manner at this past weekend's event.

    WOW! They are awesome OT!
The exposure, clarity and colours are superb!!! What were your settings?
Was the guy the only one to realise you were taking pictures of him?
Do the others know and did you offer them a print?

Thanks Ali! I am really pleased with the quality I am getting with the 300mm f4 lens. All these young people are use to me being around with a camera so they don't pay much attention to me. Some of them were aware I had the lens pointed in their direction and others were not. The young man is my wife's bosses son. His mom has many of the images I have taken of him at various sports events framed and around the house. As far as the setting I don't remember for sure I'll check the files when I get home but I was set up for the track meet so I would think I was in aperture priority mode set for the largest f stop so that would have been f4.

I almost ALWAYS use my 300 mm for portraits lol. I think it does a far better job than my 17-80 or whatever it is (my only two lenses :cryin: I want more!)
