    Camera help please!
    Hi,
    I am a plane spotter,
and i need a camera w/ at least10x optical zoom, but 12x would be nice.
    It would have to digital.
And 4 or 5 mega pixels.
    What camera would you recomend?

Go to the top of this page and click on the Reviews menu selection. In there you'll find a section on 4-5 Megapixel cameras. Use that for comparison of features and evaluations and buy from an established company. Try the cameras out yourself as different features are more important to some people than others. There isn't a shortcut for this.

I take it you are looking for an advanced compact digital. In which case, I'm partial to Nikon. The Coolpix 5700 is 5 MP, and has an 8X zoom, 35mm equivalent to 35-280mm.

The Coolpix 8700 is an 8MP camera with a 10X zoom, 35mm equivalent to 35-350mm. Kodak and a couple of others make 10X and 12X zoom digital cameras. Do a search and compare features.

A sidenote here. My daughters have Kodak Easyshare digital cameras. Cheaper than the equivalent Nikon, but the software is a MAJOR pain! Nikon View is much easier to use, and does a LOT more. Moral: there is more to it than just price!

One last thing. Considering the price of the advanced compacts, unless space is a problem, you may want to consider getting a Digital SLR. They are more capable, have faster shutter releases, and are much more versatile. My two cents worth.

I'm a plane spotter too, but I'm still very attached to my old, trustworthy and indestructable EOS600. My 'digital colleguas' however, work with DSLRs like the Canon EOS300D, 10D, 20D or Nikon D70, D100 etc. These all have proven to be perferct for the job given the faster shutter release.
    Hope this helps.

That aviation.net website looks interesting. I wonder if I could get some of my airplane shots posted there.

First of all, there's a help forum, for a reason. Second of all, if no one has responded yet, then clearly, those that frequent these forums don't have one. If there are no reviews in the reviews section the try google.
