Camera Family Portrait

WOW!! If I had a piece of glass like that big fellow I'd be showing it off too. Very nice Brent! I'm going to have to do another family portrait too. I looked back at what I posted and realized that I've added a couple more bodies and at least two lenses since that picture. Yes families do just keep growing I've also added four grandsons since that picture.

We've had a couple additions to our family lately and realized it was time to straighten up all of our gear. This thread came to mind while I had most of it out and thought I would resurrect it with a pic of our family's family :D The AF Nikon lenses don't get used anymore since selling the D50, just haven't gotten around to selling them yet. The Rebel 2000 and Canon G2 (used to take this pic) are Carla's and the Olympus Stylus is Skyla's. Not shown are tripods, filters (Cokin A's and P's, UV filters, Polarizers, various color filters, etc.), flashes, etc. Damn, I have a case of GAS :blush2: I blame Ebay...LOL

Can I play? :D

Great additions to an old post. You have inspired me to do another camera family portrait. There have been some addition to our family too.

I am getting the bug to do a family portrait. I will have to do it when the GF is gone because she wants me to get rid of all the stuff I don't use.

No way I'd get rid of a piece of Nikon equipment just because I don't use it anymore. Each and every piece is a member of the family. I have only sold one piece of Nikon gear and that was my D70. It went to another member of the PR family that I knew would love and treasure it as much as I did.

Here's my very young camera family...

On the left, Canon Optura 60 DV Camcorder. Takes fantastic sound and video in true widescreen (not HD). Optical stabilization, 14x, also functions as a 2.3Mp still camera. The big battery will run it basically all day. As you can see, it's gotten plenty of use - about 15hrs worth of tape shot on it. Also nice: the OEM battery is the same as the XTi's, so I already had an extra when I bought the XTi!

On the right, my original P&S Minolta DiMage Xt, SD card, extra battery, and case.

In the middle, the Canon bag for the Optura, which the XTi can also squeeze into (not at the same time). The Rebel XTi w/ 50mm F1.8 sitting on a $20 Wal-mart tripod... crappy, but it does hold the camera.

That's the family for at least another year and a half... the rest of my money is in those books!

Well, my "family" has shrunk since I sold some of my better lenses - like the 17-40L and 24-105L IS. I'm left with the XTi (love that camera) and a Canon 28mm/f1.8 and my favorite the 50mm/f1.4 - and I just purchased the new Canon 18-55IS. With a price tag of $175 it's a very good buy. Reviews have stated that it's IQ is well above the kit 18-55 (non-IS). I'm not sure whether I'm going to keep it or not - I keep looking at the images through "L" colored lenses!

At any rate, I have the G9 to add to my collection - sort of like the adopted member of the family - excellent camera but looks a bit different. I'll have to figure out how to shoot the whole gang together. Guess I'll borrow a camera. I sold one to the office worker upstairs.

On the left is the camera gear from yester year.
I ended up with my Dad's sears/ pentex KS 1000 = full manual
He had a 28mm wide angle and a 50mm
135 mm medium telephoto lens
i picked up a 28-80 lens that was my basic walk around lens.
then came the Pentex ME Super and the rest of the lenses.
It makes me laugh at how good some of the pics I took back then came out:)

The one camera I wish i had obtained when my Dad passed away was a voigtlander (spelling) that he picked up when he was in the army back in the early 1950s. He turned me loose with it one weekend back in 1979 and it took some good pictures. I will have to see if I can find any of them?
The stuff on the right is the Canon stuff.

Great looking family Jimmy. I have a real soft spot in my heart for Pentax. My first serious 35mm was a Pentax H1a. That was before they even had built in meters. I loved that camera and it had amazingly good quality. Thanks for adding to this old thread.

Great looking family you have there Jimmy :thumbsup: Looks like you're getting a little dust on those Pentaxes. You should take them out for a "stretch" :D
