    California's Tallest Bridge with Thunderclouds

I drive over this bridge every day. On this day I had to stop and get a picture of the thunderclouds at sunset. The clouds color is coming from a reflection from the sunset behind where I was shooting. The Foresthill Bridge is 730ft above the North Fork of the American River, making it California's tallest bridge..

well first That doesn't really look like a thunder cloud ,you can't really tell it is much of a Bridge.

I'd like to see a Picture of the bridge it self ,that sound really interesting, like a side view of it

Here ya go. This is a Pano I did a while back. The river you see to the right is the Middle Fork of the American. Just click on the bridge and it will zoom in.

Re: California's Tallest Bridge with Thunderclouds

Thanks. I Recently just bought a new monitor. Today I received some prints in the mail I had ordered from Bay Photos. I quickly realized that my monitor was way out of calibration. After doing some reading I found out that my monitor defaults itself to HD for videos after every restart, thus loosing the calibration I set. I had to download a add on from Microsoft to keep my calibration set after every restart. I look at my original post now and it looks terrible. I thought I was enhancing it before I posted it, but now I see the damage I created with a monitor way out of wack. I'm to tired now but I will post the original picture later today. The pano shot I had saved on my external hd with proper calibration. The funny thing is when I posed the pano shot I looked at it and thought the levels were way off. I looked a the histogram and it was good so I left it. Live and learn. Always trust the Histogram over my eyes. I also have a couple of side view pano's of the bridge I will post up. Nothing great but a good perspective of the bridge. Thanks for the comments

I didn't like the first shot at all. This shot looks like it was taken by a totally different photographer and I think came out very good. This is also a much better view of the bridge than the first one, Jeff

I have no trouble with the composition of the first one, just the processing and hope you can do something with it.
The second is good but it appears you tried to clone out some buildings on the hill at top right and that looks HORRIBLE! Sorry for the bluntness. I'm thinking you weren't looking at the full size when you cloned and it looked ok small?

Thanks for the comments. Here is one more I dug up from my library. It gives a little better perspective of the height of the bridge.

Now that one really shows off it's heighth....whew...awesome last shot. Best of the the three. I'm not sure about the first one. It appears as though you had some motion blur or something going on and my old eyes just can't seem to grasp it all. But I like the idea. I hope you get another chance to shoot this with thunderheads or whatever they were..hehe..they were awesome looking clouds against the bridge.

Re: California's Tallest Bridge with Thunderclouds

Got a bit of a self portrait on the first one, haha...I really like it. However, I wish it would have been a little more centered. I think it would have had a bigger impact.

#2 really catches the depth of the canyon. The DOF you used is interesting. Not sure yet how I feel about it.
