Ugh don't remind me....had to use them for a while until I got totally new ones- they're a remnant from my youth but my cats would sleep on my bed and i've recently been diagnosed with asthma, and so cats on the bed is a big no-no.

Maybe I should do another...I have one less camera but more lenses and extras....
And my new sheets/comforter happen to be in Nikon colors...

    Hat? hehe...I have:
D2X CF card case (PhotoJohn brought it for me from last year's PMA)
Nikon promotional mug from the 80's
    Nikon Dealer Net mousepad
    more modern Nikon travel mug
    Nikon mini staplers (2)
    Nikon golf ball/tee set
    Nikon patch
    nikon Advanced System pins, 1988-1994
    Nikon hat
    NikonCafe hat
Nikon Decals- use a large one on my door, smaller ones on equipment...for instance my 70-200 VR lens hood now has 3 of them....
In addition to my lens collection, which is my favorite....

    It'll look better once I get another shot when I buy a 300/2.8 :)

The, uh, POINT of this my friends was to partake of a friendly bat-tle of exquisite photog-raphy! I am sure you all are blessed with many beautiful cameras. Thanks be for putting many pictures of them in this thread.

HOWEVER! The battle awaits! The sides have been drawn! Let us choose now! The first ever Battle of the Clans shall commence!

Choose ye subject contestants! Shall money it be? What else shivers ye timbers?!

It's kinda like the cold war. Just showing weapons, and saying well, if you do, we will.

Themes? Should it be limited to such? Why not just one or two of anything from each? You could do it in rounds even. For example:

    One from Walterick - Nikon
    one from Almo - Canon
    one from alex - Minolta

Bleah... whatever, I'm not in on this anyway. It is a funny thread though.

While there don't seem to be many of the Panasonic Panhandlers (just me to be precise), I'd like to suggest a theme of "Cliches". Suitable shots would be either photographic cliches (things we have all seen shots of) or a photo that illustrates a verbal cliche ("you can fool all of the people..." or similar).

    Fun is fun but...
While I admit it is fun to postulate and make jokes, I really do not like the idea of a competition between the members of these forums. Clans only make the prospect of this even worse. I do not see this idea ending well. I believe the forums are here to show and share. I think that the idea of of clans showing off what they can do is fine, but making it a win or lose proposal really brings an aspect to it that makes me very uncomfortable. PR.com has the best photo-community on the net, and I do not see this "Clan Bat-tel" as being very conducive to the continuation of that theme.

    Anyway, thats how I feel.

You people are rediculous, but very entertaining ;) I own half of the nikon lenses posted, but CHOOSE to use my canon gear . I can take the same quality image with my leica, nikon, canon or even my fuji, argus, minolta or a borrowed pentax :)

Money huh? I can get an image of $10,000 - $20,000 REAL cash any day you want me to :)

    Cliches

Beautiful Women (I wouldn't be allowed to participate in this one :D)
    Human Interest

    or...

Just posting pics of various subjects from each camera.

I was about to disagree with this with the belief that it could be done with good humor and in the spirit of friendly rivalry. But after reading this post I'm not so sure. Things are getting a little heated over there.

What if this was simply turned into a show and tell. A few pictures of your equipment and then a few with your equipment designed to show it's strengths. This thread would then become a great tool for people that come to the forum trying to decide which equipment will work best for them.

    Just a thought. :)

    Re: Fun is fun but...
Almo, I hear your concern. I think it WOULD end up badly if it were not for the good natured spirit of the Viewfinder forum :) I would not DREAM of putting this thread elsewhere.

One thing I should have stated already, is that the trick to this whole contest is...

    NO ONE CAN WIN

Who is going to vote? The people who post the pictures! I think it's safe as a good-spirited competition in which everyone is inspired to post the best pictures they can. The winner will be in the quality of work. There is no way to "prove" that one camera takes better pictures than another!

That having been said, I will keep an eye on the tone of the thread to make sure it stays good humored. I take this whole Nikon v. Canon thing as a joke. Perhaps I am underestimating the severity with which other people believe in "their" cameras. If everyone else agrees with Almo, I'll call the game.

    If not...
    let's get it on :D

Speed, you would win just based on your backlog of Dawn pictures :D

I think everyone who is going to voice an opinion here already has. Which is not very many...

I saw maybe 3 votes for "money" and I don't think I saw any votes for any other topics. We'll definitely have another Battle of the Clans in the future so if "money" bombs we'll do another one.

That being said, with no further objections "Money" will be the first theme of our Battle of the Clans competition! I'll make a new thread for the photos :)

    Let the games begin! :D

Absolutly right, because all the KM people would vote KM, Nikon > Nikon, Canon > Canon. So yeah, there is no way to prove it. So I'll agree, we just make it a show and tell thread, show off our gear and the shots we can make with it. In the end it just comes down to it's not the camera, it's the person behind it.
