    No noise, just a slight pull to the left.
    Just about to go out and do the other Smart.

    The brake pads have a springy piece that's supposed to hit the disc and start screeching at about 3mm pad depth. But that can't cope with heavy corrosion on the edges of the disc and reduced braking area - where the pads aren't worn.

    You mean before they broke off, locking the wheel? Yeah, I'd say so. :eek:
    I have to wonder what car this came off of? I have only seen one car before that had only three lug nuts and studs to hold the wheel on. That was a French made Renault Caravelle, circa 1962 I think?

    Off a Smart car, I won't be buying from this dealer again !
    Rebuilt now with new discs, pads, calipers - as it should have been.

    Oh, Well the Smart Car is about the same size. Maybe even a bit larger. :p

    Yeah I'd say they were shot.

    a couple of years ago when I did my Subaru's Brakes they looked like this

    The pars were really in bad shape
