Boy, two fires in two days!

Our little San Gorgonio Pass community, which is comprised of Banning, Beaumont, Cherry Valley and Calimesa, got a double whammy this weekend with two large fires that broke out. The winds here were very high this weekend, causing both fires to spread rapidly across the dry hillside grasses.

The first two pics are of today's fire, in Banning. This actually broke out about a mile west of my house. The wind was pushing the fire westward away from us, but it gobbled up a lot of the historic Gilman Ranch acreage (which is where I had taken pictures just last Thursday and posted them here). I tried to do a pano on the first one but it didn't come out as planned.

The rest are from the Cherry Valley fire, that fanned over into Calimesa to the west.

Anybody else suffering from wildfires? Post them here if you want.

I know that feeling, Going home on Tuesday (9/19/06) a smoker? started a small brush fire. The only road going into an industrial area was blocked by fire hoses (6 lanes at that point). I was lucky the bus got though (on a cross streeet). Later some idoit caused an wreck which blocked that road for another few hours!!!
