Big Splash, Small Scale

The photo of the Milk Droplet splashing , gave me some inspiration. I was not out to produce a masterpeice, so I have not got something for critique, but I have assembled some pictures for you to see what I did, and some of the results.

Rather than using milk, I tried Baking Flour, (Not Self Raising, but plain). I was thinking of using Talcum Powder, but penny for pound, flour is lots cheaper.

I have to admit, it was good fun, and without my tripod, remote flasher thingy and on-lens-Flash, I doubt I would have got the results I have. So thank you for sharing the Milk Droplet Shot with us {Grin}

Thanks, I enjoy sharing, and sometimes teaching, but most times, I enjoy doing something fun. I gotta admit, getting flour all over the place was fun...

Classroom simulation of meteor impacts, not messing about with flour :o

Try thin layers of differently coloured flour (food dye and dry it out again?).
Try an airgun pellet at an oblique angle.
Shooting that from on top might give an interesting effect.

Have you tried drying damp flour? Its called 'making bread' and it does react differently {grin}<O:p

My results were with a randomly chosen small coin from six inches to a foot, acceleration is minimal, but quite fast. An Airgun Pellet (BB Gun) would have incredible velocity in comparison, the target would have to be a lot more solid, like pressed clay powder, baked and pressed. That would take half an hour to set up.<O:p

Flour/water usually I add yeast and cook that :)
So maybe use layers of powder paint ... must be some way to get colour contrast.

Oooh, a layer of flour over a base of photocopier toner !

The ingrediants are getting lethal. I will either get so fat eating the product, or die from lung cancer inhaling the carcogenic toner or sniff my head off on the miami stuff....
