The Big Move
My wife Amanda's career is moving along in leaps and bounds..She has been offered and accepted a posting to the Tibetan Autonomous Region in China..It is an education project similar to the one Amanda managed in Laos..I have resigned from work and will accompany her..The posting is initially for 12 months but these projects usually get extended for up to 5 years..We will be living in a small community of 5000 people, mainly ethinic Tibetans in a town called Sertar on the Sichuan/Tibetan border..It is situated high on the Tibetan Plateau at 3800 meters..I have finished my English Language teaching Diploma (TESOL) and hope to do some teaching at a community level..
It is all exciting and scarey at the same time..High altitude and extremely cold winters are our main concern plus the isolation..We fly out early September..
Depending on Internet access I'll post images as I take them..

Re: The Big Move
Wow! Aside from the fascinating work, I'm guessing there might be at least a few photo ops in such a place. People who travel the world fascinate me as I've gone years with hardly going more than a few hundred miles from home.
Hope you and your wife have rewarding experience and hopefully you'll have some internet access to keep in touch.

Sounds like an amazing opportunity - I hope you have an internet connection too, so you can share your pictures with us!
Oh, and don't forget the oxygen (coming from an Illinois "flatlander" where hills = anything over 700' above sea level). :)
