    Best Camera for Macro
    Hi,

I am somwhat new to digital photography. I need a camera that I can take really up close, clear, crisp macro shots of jewelery and diamonds.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Here is an inexpensive setup for taking photos of jewelry. He uses a film camera with closeup rings but any good macro capable digital would work as well. I would think you would want to have as much dof as possible so an SLR with a good macro lens would probably make sense. I think the aperture is more limited in most of the P&S digitals (I may be wrong).

Be sure to take a look at Abrasha's jewelry as well and you'll see how well that setup works as well as see his uniquely beautiful work.

You can go to the Orchid jewelry forum site at
http://www.ganoksin.com/orchid/archive/index.htm and do a search on 'photographing jewelry' in the archives and library to find more discussion.

You can ask on rec.crafts.jewelry too or do a similar search in the google archives for that ng.
