Even the supermarkets sold out of salt.
Although there was a short piece on the morning news about how a table salt company was providing salt for the roads. Which I think made a few idiots go out and buy up salt!

That would be pretty awful. Some foods I can't imagine eating without salt, mostly eggs and meat.
You're going to have a lot of rusty cars too.

Rusty cars are a fact of life here.
We have snow enough to treat the roads with rock salt, but not enough for the highways agency and local councils to have enough salt to treat a long term cold spell.
Are there any places in the USA that don't treat the roads?
I thought even northern Florida got snow in the winter, is the south snow-free?
How about New Mexico?
Places like that would have rust-free cars, but sun-faded paint I guess.

Eating without salt?
I have since I married.
Angie was used to cooking for father in-law who had his first triple bypass at 36.
So no salt in the cooking, add it later if you have to.

The only rusty cars which are seen are from the coast. Other wise to see old cars without rust are in the dry areas of eastern Oregon and Washington. But on the eastern seaboard and Midwest the use salt on the roads and the cars are like the cars from the coast rusty.

I'm in a pretty rural area and mostly they just plow the roads and sand the icy spots.
I know there are some alternatives to salt but I'm too sleepy to do much research on it.
