    Back from Vacation...
And on my way home I picked up my Fuji Provia 400 slides that I shot with my Canonet QL17 GIII. My first impression was that while the colors were nice and vibrant, it was a bit on the cool side for my taste. I would probably fare better in springtime with this film. Grain was still noticeable, despite the clerk at the film store telling me it would be almost non-existent.

Should have my Kodak Elite Chrome 100 slides from my vacation ready by Friday, and will share them then.

Again, these scans don't really do the slides justice. Slides are much sharper and saturated in color.

This one I'm kinda proud of. Handheld at 1/8 sec, f/1.7:

    This one's for OT:

Shot right next door to the lab...was trying to finish up the roll before taking it in:

Nice Ray. Good to have you back. I do like the the sunset horse, love the way you were able to hod detail in the shadow area and still not completely blow out the beautiful sun. Nice job. Oh and the FOX sign is top notch as well. I remember when I could pull off handhelds like that, but alas those days are behind me.

Thanks OT! Yeah, I thought of you when I shot that horse. :) Wish I could remember the settings, though. I keep forgetting to write them down.

Yes you have the Provia blue going in these photos. The first image of the FOX theater is a good photograph, and handheld, you should be proud. Blue cat eyes are another definite mark of the film.

The vines and the bamboo are examples of why I never like this film for somethings. Some colors without super careful adjustment look flat and undersaturated. Sometimes they ARE flat!

This film is very interesting to use with a polarizer or with ND filters when necessary. The extra speed can be a real saver when shooting slides.

As far as the grain goes, Provia has a lot of speckles in base. It is easy to scan beyond the resolving limt of the film.

That Canonet is certainly performing very nicely! Good work and looking to seeing some of your Elite Chromes too!!

    P.S.

Didn't mean to forget the sunset and horse silhouette. That is a fine photo!

I love the colors. I especially like the first one, the last one - and the kitty's pretty blue eyes.
