    August Snow
Yeah, you read that right. And no, I'm not in New Zealand or Chile. It snowed this morning in the mountains above Salt Lake City. I think there was snow on the ground down to about 8000 feet (2400m). Naturally, I had to make a quick drive up the canyon to get some photos. I was a little late and most of the snow had melted by the time I got up there. But there was still some on the ground as well as periodic fluries.

The first photo is 11,000 foot Mt. Baldy with a little dusting of snow left.

The second photo is looking north, across Little Cottonwood Canyon, with just a little bit of snow coming down :)

The third photo is looking over the north shoulder of East Greeley at 11,100 foot Mt. Superior, across the canyon from Alta and Snowbird.

    Summer Isn't Over Yet
Even though there's a definite feeling of fall in the air and there was some snow up in the mountains, summer's not quite over yet. And there are still plenty of flowers holding on up at Albion Meadows.

    Enjoying The Cooler Weather
I'm not really sure what kind of temperatures these guys like, but I have a feeling they were enjoying the cooler weather and dwindeling number of tourists.

It's funny, I hadn't seen any moose this summer and then in two days I saw four! We encountered one on the trail in Park City, yesterday when we were mountain biking. And these were two of three I saw up at Alta today.

It is! So whenever I think I might have the opportunity to juxtapose two seasons in one photo, I'm all over it!

Moose are supposed to be the most dangerous large animals in North America. Supposedly they kill more people than bears or mountain lions. They definitely make me nervous. I didn't get very close to those guys at all.
