    Audio-visual/Slide Shows
Hi guys .. I am not sure exactly which forum to put this on, so Viewfinder will do for now (mods: feel free to move it if you feel it belongs somewhere else) ...

One of the things I do is to make AV slide shows. Just recently a couple of them have won various competitions. The problem was in how to share them. I now use a service of British Telecom which stores them on their server for anyone to download.

The problem is that it only works by email invitation. I know a lot of people are not happy about sharing email addresses, but if anyone who knows me would like to see them, give me a PM and I will send the invitation to you.

    Cheers
    Mike

I would strongly recommend Mikes haunting AV on the death camps. Simple and to the point with sympathetic music.

Thanks Greg .. unfortunately (from this point of view), the files are exe and somewhat large. I use PicturestoExe which generates files with high res pictures and music. Neither Photobucket or Youtube will handle them. In any case, Photobucket is limeted to a 5 minute video, and my main one here is nearly 6.

I use this one, partly because it is a very common way for UK people to share these things, and partly because British Telecom is a major and safe player.

Any other suggestions will be gratefully received!

    Cheers

Even if youtube did handle these files I would steer completly clear of it. I would be a dreadful interface for such sensitive work.
I have now just watched Friends and there are some lovely touches in there, ie the sharing of the newspaper page and the drink near the end. Am I right Mike that some images of the boys were repeated more than once. Maybe I'm wrong (without looking back a second time). Very suitable music from S&G too.
I must try a bit of this when I get a chance.
Good man Mike you do these very well indeed.

Well spotted, Tom! I think there were two repeated shots in the second portion .. mainly to get the timing right for the archive sequences.

Have you thought about getting yourself some space on the web for yourself? Getting your own website and domain name is fairly cheap (usually as cheap as three or four dollars a month).

I need to practice and get better and don't do a lot but on occasion I'll add some sound to photos. Here is a recent basketball game I photographed that I mic'd some of the action on the court.
