    Astronomy Update

All kinds of things going on. Comet Holmes is still visible, Mars is up in the evening, and the Geminid Meteor shower is coming! Get out your cameras and tripods.

According to the wife, I already spend enough time with my head in the clouds, stars, etc. I just don't have the knowledge or the time, but I do dig your stuff when you post it.

I'd love to go check things out but the freezing rain, sleet and other assorted ugly weather is hampering my desire.

    Re: Astronomy Update

I still haven't seen comet Holmes, and its bigger than the full moon now?! How am I missing this thing?

The good news is, I will be in dark skies Sedona this Thursday, with any luck I'll have clear skies for the meteor shower that night!

Go to the skyandtelescope link I posted. The article has a finder chart. Print it out and take it with you. Comet Holmes isn't as bright as it was, but it is still very much visible. It is a fuzzy star near (above) Mirfak (the brightest star in Pegasus). Carry binoculars with you to help find it. The skies around Sedona should help!

I expect some images from you!

    Talking According to the wife

"I already spend enough time with my head in the clouds, stars, etc."

Now Michael, don't let her treat you like a dog. You get up on your hind legs and you tell her...

    ;-)

"I just don't have the knowledge or the time, but I do dig your stuff when you post it."

It takes little knowledge. Go to the article on SkyandTelescope.com and print out the finder chart. Then go outside and look east. It's easy. Take a pair of binoculars with you to make it easier.

I'm glad you dig my astonomy posts!

    This too shall pass!

And when it does, go outside and look east.

This will be of some help. If you're looking for dark skies, click on the light pollution link after you get to the clear sky chart for your area.

    Neat tools.
