    Lucy

    My daughter's cat Lucy, lounging during the holidays. Got a new flash for Christmas, she was there...

    (Canon D30 w/ Sigma 28-70 EX, Tv=1/60, Av=4.0, ISO=200)

    Nice, very nice. Have you tried it b&w, with a little sharpening and cropping for effect around the eyes? Might make for a very nice close-up abstract.

    Tried a few different crops - I'm sure there is an art to cropping, but I just gave it a shot and came up with these as my favorites. I tried keeping the nose in, but it didn't seem to be as strong that way. Suggestions for a better crop? It's funny, these make the cat look a lot scarier - she's quite a docile, sweet little kitten. Thanks for the suggestion!

    I think I'm in the minority here, but the green eyes against the black are very appealing. I saw the b&w set first and was surprised when I saw the color of the eyes. I prefer the color for the dramatic effect they have...

    I think dgrits has a good point. I tried playing with it myself just now, and the color of the eyes really is a nice focal point of the composition, bringing attention to the eyes that a b&w version does not. I like that crop of just one eye though. Makes a nice sort of self portrait.
