This year, for the first time, it rained !
So there was an excuse for the two Posche 911s, the Maserati, and the Ferrari who all spun off and hit the wall.
An expensive day for some.

Yet those who realised that there are more than two throttle positions (off and to the metal) had a great day. Even my little 700cc smart was hanging the tail out if I more than breathed on the throttle in the corners.

A fantastic organisation by the Rotary, really hope some of you can make it next year.
Drive the most beautiful circuit in the world, last year €30,000 this year maybe €40,000 for handicapped children - having fun doesn't get better than this !

Unfortunately the wet weather did catch out one unfortunate, who wouldn't be driving this home.
A few spins in the rain, a few breakdowns, but the doctor wasn't needed.
Overall it was a very safe day.

As safe as we, the drivers, made it.

Unfortunately the bad weather spoiled many spectators' enjoyment of the day.
But amidst all the cars, it should not be forgotten why we were there ...

At least these guys don't cancel a race because of rain but make adjustments.

How many classes are there for one of these and what class were the Mustangs in?

Totally awesome. I really got the feeling of the event by looking at the pictures. The first car I bought was a 67 mustang convertable, so the shots of the mustangs caught my eye. I love the fact that people were willing to race them on an European track (I hate Nascar and its ovals, which are more about commuter traffic than any kind of racing). I just love the whole idea of this type of fundraiser. Anyone who is on the isle or any surrounding landmass within a few hours that does not get a car and participate is crazy. I would race a volkswagen beetle, just to get to drive through those turns. Sounds like a great time for a worthy cause. Ok, the adrenaline is wearing off now, thanks for sharing that story and pictures.

Not a race, this is a drive for charity day.
The cars are all brought along by owners, most driven to the track.
The majority were driven home, too

We paid €75 per 45 minute session which goes to the charity.
All the marshalls, organisation, medical, is provided as if it was a race session.

Many of the Uniroyal Fun Cup cars (racing beetle) and 2CVs were using it as a practice day - and paying more for it, including pit garages to work on the cars, thank you gentlemen !

A number of porsches were used as race taxis, the drivers (all race drivers) were also driving standards observers and could (but none did) radio in and get bad drivers black flagged.

I was surprised by the porsche 908 with road number plates !
A fantastic car, unfortunately I never got a photo of it on track from my car.

Thanks for the links, those look faster than the Volkswagen Beetles I was thinking of

. Any unforgettable experience is really worth way more than £14,000 and that one I think would definately qualify as unforgettable, making it quite the bargain. I really just love the idea that they opened a race course up to the public for charity. Who wouldn't want to rip around a race course in one of their cars.

don't you have any: NO ENTRY or WRONG WAY signs over there ??

no wonder it's safer to drive on the left !!

well done way and fantastic that someone got to participate for the benefit of the kids.

the little lad in the wheel chair sums it all up. hope that they had as good of a day as the participants.

AND that's a good deal of money by the way..

Remember this s not a race
It's wet out there
It will be slippery
Even if it's not raining
There are wet leaves on the track through les Combes
Be gentlemen
Blue flag means you are being overtaken, do not deviate, let them go round you
On the straight if you are moving over, indicate in the direction you will go, to let people pass

They didn't say do not drive on the paint, on the kerbs, you will spin.
But some people found that out the hard way.
