Anyone else?

Re: Anyone else?
I did my civic duty in the rain. Even with the rain we were having a record turnout.

You know it...

Re: Anyone else?
Heck yeah. This is the one time that my opinion counts the same as my wife's, and you think I'm going to miss that?
I always seem to vote at 7:00 on my way to work, after the polling places have been open for an hour. Usually I'm somewhere around voter #20-25 but today I was #41. Glad to see that! Our neighborhood is fairly politically active judging by all the signs I see for every election - but they must not be morning people.

Didn't you know, Illinois invented that phrase? We even can vote after we die!
Seriously, as mentioned elsewhere, I voted and did so absentee though when I took my Dad to the polls there were still good old fashioned paper ballots there.
Several friends and I voted in some contests for that "Greenfellow" guy just as much as a statement of our individual/collective disgust as any serious conviction. At least the track record is not negative.
Now if my Cook County/Chicago friends can get their ballots counted from the machine(or by the machine if you prefer), and the big fellows, who seemingly populate so many of the polling places with no particular reason other than to wear T-Shirts that would get me arrested for electioneering, don't interfere with their voting, then we can get the official results which were carefully decided upon about the first of September.
I'm not cynical, just glad the my 3.2 votes will be split 57-43% for the eventual winner.
Seriously, if you haven't voted and can, DO IT!

Re: Anyone else?
The wife and I went and voted together after work. We still use paper ballots in my town. I think the average age of our polling workers is about 95 and I don't think any of them would know how to run a voting machine! Allthough I did see an electronic voting machine in one room, but I think that was only for people with dissabilities.

Re: Anyone else?
So glad the ads get to take a break for another couple years.
I voted too, I was one of the last so they gave me a handful of these stickers. Any of you that didnt have time want to buy a sticker?

Re: Anyone else?
OMG I just watched 6 straight hours of CNN
Go Dems :)

Re: Anyone else?
They just announced on NPR that both the Dems and Republicans have dispatched lawyers to Virginia, and there is already talk of a recount. Is this going to be another election that's decided by the courts instead of the voters?

Re: Anyone else?
As a Canadian I did not vote in the US Elections, however I will be voting in the municipal elections in Canada on Monday. My voting strategy, if they're already in office or have been running ever since I can remember, they're not getting my vote, I'm going for all NEW people.
I also have to remember not to bring a camera with me, last time I did that, oh boy, I had two election officials watching my every move.

Re: Anyone else?
Yes, the CNN legal correspondant said that all of the legal troops embroiled in the 2000 Florida recount are packing up and getting ready to move to Virginia. Under VA law, an election with less than a 1% win gives the loser the right to request a recount, which the state must honor. The last Virginia recount was held a year ago, in which only 27 votes changed hands. The final result was not announced until December 22.
I hear the race in Montana was very tight as well. This election's going to go the distance!

Re: Anyone else?
They are already saying that George Allen is requesting a recount. Wouldn't it be interesting if he pulls in the lead at the end of the first count, then ends up loosing in the recount that HE requested...

Re: Anyone else?
Yup and boy the phone has sure been quiet today!
I had at least 5 phone calls after I voted yesterday morning and one even after the polls had closed to tell me I could still take my absentee ballot to certain places.

Yes, the oldest mayor in Canada will be 90 when she finishes her next term.

Re: Anyone else?
I did, and had to wait in line an hour to do it...At least you can't get fired for voting. I told my employer that I would be gone for about 30 mins, but turns out it took me over an hour.
