    Another Malibu excursion...
Had a bit of time this evening to get out to the beach and grab some shots. I saw the last one as I was making my way home through Malibu Canyon Rd. and couldn't resist pulling over. Wish I had got there just a couple minutes earlier.

    Hope you like.

Thanks, Paul. I knew you'd like that gull. Just the right amount of flash too. But these birds are easy. I tried getting a sandpiper like you did but the little bugger was darting all over the place. All I got were fuzzy pictures of it, lol.

Yes getting close to a gull at the beach is SOMETIMES easy, but so is a shorebird if you do it correctly.

FOCAL LENGTH is the hardest part of shorebirds at the beach.

study their movements and lay down ahead of them with the angle you desire ;)

a shorebird will dart and dash from the waves, but on a slack or outgoing tide their are not too many waves ;)

low tide is ALWAYS the best though and they are FEEDING LIKE CRAZY!
