Checking reviews and eating my oatmeal with peanut butter and honey. Oh yeah - can't forget the coffee. Absolutely not.

These are beautiful concert photos. The light is great and your exposures are perfect. The first one is really great. I love the Temptations.

A lot of these would make great Photo Project themes. my only concern is that we don't start something that takes away from the Photo Project. The 24 hour thing is very different from the Photo Project. And I think it's wonderful addition to the site. It was fun, I took some pictures I normally wouldn't have, shared some I normally wouldn't have, and got to learn a bunch more about some of you. That's all great stuff.

I agree - and as another poster (here) noted, the photo project is still going strong - during the 2 - 24 hour thing.

What I'm enjoying the most is exactly what you're talking about - I'm seeing people as they are in their normal daily lives......and I really love it! It's like getting to know each other better - and seeing how other people live.....and it's just fun. :D :D :D :D

Thanks John! It's amazing what the right light can do for a photograph. Compare the previous photos I shared to these Temptation photos, which were shot in full sun with a dark background, and on top of that they were wearing white over blue!! Not a very good combination I must say.

This first shot is when Peaches first saw me taking photos of her. She was just dancing around a bit while Herb was singing, then she dropped her mike down and gave me a pose. After the shot she just threw a big smile my way like she knew she had just done me a big favor, which I would probably have to say she did. :thumbsup:

I also love the second one because it shows so much emotion in her singing. And the third one...well, she's just being a bit sassy is all.

As you can see I fully intended to document my day for the 24 hours project even with showing you the grill I assembled just for my kids birthday party. After the guest started to arrive, the day was like a roller coaster. My photography hat took low priority to the bbq cook hat, host hat, get ice hat, and make sure my kid doesn't jump in the lake hat. Wish I could've done more.

My Consumer Report on the grill:
It was fairly easy to assemble. It even came with a screwdriver. The plastic blister case had the nuts and bolts nicely labeled. All this for under $50 at LOWEs. It's propane based by the way and the legs fold for storage.

Pros: easy to assemble, compact, propane, cost
Con: slightly heavy for it's size, cleaning is a pain, relighitng can be a challenge
1 out of 10 (10 being best) = 8 pts.

When it's first come first serve at the park for the best space, you mark your territory by putting your folding chiars on the park tables. This way, late comers will see the chairs on the table and not bother to come close. This helps avoiding ackward situations.

I think monthly would be too often for me.
Although to be fair I did play on both days, I admit.

I agree, too often would make it less special.
How often is too often I don't know.

What would be interesting would be to look at the postings in other forums after a successful phot-day and see if it goes up.
I have a lot of potential critique shots, and action shots - well the morris dancers were moving, so it's action to me !

1) Did the screwdriver come with multilingual instructions?
2) Are screwdrivers an essential component for the sale of self assembly paraphenalia?
3) Was the screwdriver accompanied by safety instructions?
4) Was the screwdriver made from ecologistical renewable supplies that are sustainable?
5) Was the screwdriver, and associated parts, made by workers in another country and not in receipt of the expected care and remuneration expected by home country employees?
6) Were you given the option of buying the same equipment without a screwdriver?
7) Do you think it is fair and safe practice for large stores to offload cheap screwdrivers onto innocent members of the public?
8) Do you feel comfortable completing the assembly when an employee of the company could have completed the manufacture and earned themselves a fair living wage, so that they could feed their children?
9) Is the screwdriver returnable after use so that it can be resource shared with other customers, thus saving fuel and energy and promoting a healthy planet?
10) Do you have a thing for screwdrivers and do you feel they complement your personal relationship with your partner by extending the appearance of gaining resources to be used on an occaisional basis in the interests of maintaining a healthy and happy relationship with your partner?

Well Rick I must agree that this was a very successful Idea for a thread. I enjoyed participating and watching the threads unfold on an hourly basis. I really got into the here's my day thing and pulled out the P&S to do this thread rather than using one of the DSLR's. I wasn't as concerned about the artistic value or if every image was perfect. My objective was to shot the day as it unfolded and to enjoy the process. I think it's a great thing to continue. I would think that once a quarter would be an appropriate time frame. I think once a month may be overkill. And as to having a theme we already do that with the photo project so I would think that a "day in the life of" is all the theme you need. That way everyone can participate every time. Thanks for starting this and for staying on top of it so well.

I think this is great. I like the quarterly idea. It makes it seasonal and just far enough apart to keep us from getting bored with it.

I think that about decides it. We'll keep it as a seaonal project with one 24 Hours coming every 3 months or so. Look for the next one around October 7!
