    Anhinga anhinga, At Sunset...Opinions?

The Anhinga is a pretty common bird here in Florida. Commonly mistaken for the more famous double-crested cormorant this bird is distinguished by its straight pointed, spear like bill. As opposed to the Cormorants hooked beak.

That first shot is special with great color, interesting, detailed silohette echoed by the shape of the drift wood. Hang that on the wall

Yeah, I would get that first one framed as well. Or submit it to National Geographic with a story about those birds.

What camera did you use? Lens?

John.... you forgot a few other field marks.... long tail, white on the wings and long thin neck are SURE give aways also ;)

I think if you had exposed for the blacks better, people would LOVE to see the amazing color(and pattern) of the eye and lores.

    NICE job none the less!

    Lovely shots almo.

My fav. is the second one. The silhouette feel is alot stronger, and it's very crisp.

    Nice shooting.

Thanks chunk! I thought that one had something to it when I saw it in the screen of my D30 the first time.

Wow thanks Axel. That is the nicest this anyone has ever said about my photography! I am really moved.

I shoot with a Canon D30 and a 70-300mm Quantaray Super LDO lens.

Damnit all, I felt like I was forgetting something, but not having seen many Cormorants in my short life I just blanked, and I was too lazy to get my book...

Thanks Jared. I like the second one too, but for the open beak. I think it gives the shot a different feeling from most shot like this.

I really like that first shot - the color, the DOF, the highlight right behind the bird's head... Nice work!

    Almo,

The open beak is one of the main reasons I like it! Adds an interesting aspect to it, I think atleast.

    Nice shots.
