Almost but not quite....

Don't ya hate it when you know a great shot is just waiting for you, if only you can get there quick enough before the perfect light goes away? Well, that happened to me today. This rainbow was absolutely gleaming brilliant colors as the sun was hitting it, but by the time I got into the right position it had almost faded away. That's what I get for stopping at the gas station for a Snickers bar. Arrrrrgh!

gorgeous setting and it's still beautiful. Snickers bars rock.


I got one of those yesterday, but the setting was a middle school. Fortunately I got an angle that excluded the middle school, but still, I wish I had a church at the time. Haha.

Aint it nice to be able to breath without smog now that it finally rained good? (that's how it is in the bay area, dunno if that's how it is down there too)

Banning lies in the San Gorgonio Pass, which tends to keep out all the smog that sits in the lower San Bernardino Valley. But I am very familiar with smog, having lived for 6 years in Reseda, which is in the San Fernando Valley. Some days it was just gross having to go outside.

Yeah, petaluma's in a valley, the air was starting to get brown before our rain. Good to hear you're out of it though. Still nice to get a bit of rain eh?

I felt the same way over the weekend at big Bear. I was shooting a lakeside house with a dramatic cloud composition. I then realized that I should have my CP on. By the time I put on the CP and got in to the position....my sky turned into pure white clouds no definition.

Reseda misses you :D

That is how the rainbow looked before I got there! Wow, beautiful shots there.

I've had that happen too. Now I try to take a shot right away and then try to improve it.

Good point Chunk. I try to do that too. I take what I call a reference shot, or one that I rip off in a hurry just to record the scene or event and then I start to look for the angle or perspective that might best enhance or create the best image. Even at that I've missed a lot of shots because like so many others I didn't have the camera close by or ready when the opportunity presented itself.
