Re: For all you gear nuts...
I'm going to have to go out and get exactly the same gear he has! Then my photos will be much better!!

Very Very interesting!!! Just goes to show, "a pro is a pro is a pro". We can go out an buy all the latest and greatest but, it's the guy pushing the shutter release that makes the difference. Thanks for bringing this article to our attention.
Re: For all you gear nuts...
I'd hardly call some of those cameras Point and Shoots. They are not DSLR's and that's the point! Several of these have feature that I'd like in all my cameras.
I've been shopping for the replacement for my G5 (still works fine but 11,000 pictures and counting it may croak tomorrow) and what's out there is pretty astounding. The Olympus with some of them having 1.8 lenses and the zoom they do are pretty much world class glass!
John, I'm going to finally retire my Olympus Stylus Epics this year. There's a few rolls of film left in the fridge just for them and they are still MY favorite hip pocket shooter. That is if I can find something to replace them with . . . Gotta break this film habit.
Enlargements? Its been mentioned in this forum and others about weddings having been shot with Canon G5 and G6's. Enlargements abound. I was at an art fair last weekend where a photographer of hot air balloons was displaying 20x30s he took with his new G6. They looked fine even under some pretty strong sunlight. He'll be the first to tell you that there's post processing and not every photo is a keeper.
Publishing? Train wreck photos on AP last year Near Chicago shot with a borrowed film P&S by a journalist on the train. Was written up as part of the story.
There are publicity stills I made with the G5 for an author aquaintance of mine that were published in both Texas and Oklahoma in newspapers to go along with articles. Several photos for event programs and short run books also came from my G5 in the past year. If they don't ask, I don't tell!
Thanks for sharing the article!
