A couple from me. Having the kid has brought out the 50mm 1.8 in me.

Fantastic pics Jorge and Jimmy. My Xti & 50mm arrived today, and I'm going through the manual now. I can hardly wait to get started. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll have time until this Sunday. But, then it will 'be on'!

this thread is full of great shots with the beloved 50mm. so I figure to post one myself. I wish mine was auto focus but hey I only paid 20 bucks for the lens. I shot one of my bird to get the detail of her wings mainly.

Ok, read through the manual, and snapped my first pic yesterday. I'm here to learn, so any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

A sneak attack from the Nikon camp -

Yesterday's bridal session - My buddy's (not so little anymore!) sister. And to think, a few years ago we used to let her hang around with us, now she's getting married! :D

Mom has been home visiting from England the past couple days and she brought over my grandfather's old cameras. There were some Brownies and old folders which were all in bad shape, mostly from lens fungus but, in the middle of it all was a PRISTINE Olympus OM-1 outfit. Sat around and played with it a bit with the Zuiko 50mm f/1.4. This was my first time using a 1.4 and was surprised by the difference to a 1.8. HAd some cool bokeh. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my mom is hanging on to that one and I loaded her up with some film for the rest of her travels around the US before flying home. Anyway, here's a fart around shot of another camera I had out on the coffee table at the time.

I finally decided to get my Nikon 1.8 lens out and give it a try. I took this picture of one of my grandsons this morning and the only thing I did to it was to re size it so it could be posted. No enhancements crops or sharpening were done. I just might decide to use this a little more often, Jeff

There are some lovely shots being posted here.

I was torn between posting in here and in the cute kid thread today. Maybe I'll post one that I also posted in the cute kid thread anyway

I forget my 50mm sometimes, Jeff, but I'm sure glad I have it. Used it a bunch the other night for low light street shots. It didn't fail me, just my compositions did.

Thanks for sharing all that fun you had playing with those wonderful old cameras. Maybe you could "borrow" the Olympus sometime. I love the shot of the Nikon. If you take any pictures with "any" of them, be sure to post them!

I love old cameras. I had a Brownie Hawkeye as a kid. I still remember how it felt to hold that camera and push the shutter button holding my breath that the flash would work! And that huge flash with the lightbulb. I even remember how it smelled. I sure loved that thing!

I'm going to post a crop from one of my shots with the 50mm to show how sharp this is. Yes, I shot an F15 with a 50mm. The 300mm wasn't on my camera when the plane flew by so I had to act fast. This was at f/1.8 and 1/6400s so this is truly a testament to the sharpness of the lens that I was able to get such a sharp 100% crop. Granted, there was some minor post-processing in PS. The sky is thanks to a linear polariser (I really need to get a circular cokin because eyeballing the metering can be a real pain).

Don't worry, for the 50mm purists out there, I'll post portraits eventually :p.
