50mm 1.8... to keep or not to keep?
Since I purchased the D-Rebel, I have only been using the Sigma 18-50mm digital lens, and the Sigma 105mm Macro. My question is, with the crop factor and all, is it worth it to hang on to the Canon 50mm f/1.8 (Mark I) and the Canon 28mm f/2.8? Opinions welcome... thanks! :)

I'll give you forty bucks for it. :D

It is one of my favorite lenses, no matter what system, I will always own one.

Of the 3 lenses you own, the 50/1.8 is probably the sharpest. It's also a perfect length for portraits. Given that it's not a lot of $$, I'd certainly hang on to it.

Thanks guys... any opinions on the 28mm? It's a shame that it's only a month old, but I'll probably never use it. :(

Well, not personal experience.........but here are the reviews from the review section which look pretty good! Best I could do. ;)

If you don't use it ever, might as well sell it. Regardless of how great something is supposed to be, if you never use it, might as well be a paperweight.

I love my 50mm. Pretty much all I use these days. I have a 70-200 f/4L that I use for dance stuff, and a 28-80 that I use as a filler for an empty spot in my backpack.

I agree 100%. But if it were something you thought you'd have a use for at some point maybe it's worth keeping. In this situation, I'd probably sell it too. Keep the 50 though, that's the only extremely fast, extremely sharp, extremely cheap lens made! Sorry Seb...

    Take it!
If you want to sell it - $40 is a great deal. Because they're only $75 to begin with, $40 is a great used price. For both parties. ;)

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. :)

I'm sorry Sebastian, I thought you were kidding, because the Mark I version that I have sells for much more than the Mark II... I paid 135 bucks for it (used!) not more than 6 months ago. I just figured you knew that and were yanking my chain ;)

I probably will hang on to the 50, because of the quality and speed... but I can't see using the 28 any more now that I have the zoom. So if anyone is interested in a brand new 28mm f/2.8 let me know! :)
